At TEMA Process, we deliver solutions that help our customers reduce energy costs, optimize processes, and operate more sustainably. Recently, we successfully installed a plate heat exchanger at a customer site in Belgium, serving as a heat recovery system on the regenerator of their new drying installation.
Immediate energy savings through reuse of regeneration heat
During the regeneration process of a drying installation, a significant amount of heat is released and is often discharged unused. By recovering this heat and reintroducing it into the process, the customer immediately benefits from reduced energy demand and lower operating costs. The result is a more efficient drying process with a shorter payback period.
Reliable performance under demanding process conditions
The regeneration air is characterized by high temperatures and high moisture loads. By selecting a plate heat exchanger made of plastic and glass fiber reinforced polyester (GRP), the customer benefits from a fully corrosion-resistant solution. This ensures a long service life, minimal downtime and high operational reliability-even during continuous operation.
Lower maintenance costs and maximum availability
Thanks to its robust design, low pressure drop of approximately 150 Pa, and suitability for temperatures up to 160 °C, the heat exchanger was easily integrated into the new regeneration system without additional fan load or system modifications. Condensation on the plates also creates a self-cleaning effect, resulting in reduced maintenance, lower service costs, and maximum system availability.
A future-proof solution for drying installations
This installation demonstrates how heat recovery on regenerators of drying systems contributes to structural energy savings, stable process control, and the achievement of sustainability goals. The solution is therefore not only technically effective, but also economically sound and future-ready.
Added value for the customer
The success of this installation is the result of a constructive collaboration between the customer and TEMA Process. Because we manage the entire project – from engineering and system selection to installation and commissioning – the customer receives a solution that integrates seamlessly into the process, delivers immediate returns, and performs reliably over the long term.
